Saturday Report - 27 September 2008

Greetings!

This is Julie Gardner, Managing Director of Lincoln Youth Symphony, sending a very late (sorry) but highly informative Saturday Report. If you are receiving this email, you recently joined or returned to the Lincoln Youth Symphony, or I have not heard definitively that you will not be returning. If you need to read a previous email, they are all available on the Lincoln Youth Symphony Blog, the Weekly Rehearsal Report here.

Remember, regular Saturday rehearsals are from 8:30 to 11:00 am. Thank you for being on time! If you will not be attending a rehearsal, or will be leaving early or coming late, please contact me at 435.723.8262 or respond to this email.

Important Note: Don't forget to number the measures in your Mozart Symphony No. 38, 1st Movement

This week, we had a few more auditions, listened to Mozart's Symphony No. 38 1st and 3rd movements (we chose to learn the first movement), and checked out music. You should have the following music in your folders:
Claire de Lune - Debussy
Symphony No. 38 - Mozart
Little Bop Riding Hood - Foreman/Isaac
St Lawrence Overture - Washburn
Next week we will also check out the following piece:
Sleigh Ride by Leroy Anderson
Don't forget to invite your friends that play oboe, bassoon, french horn, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, viola, bass, cello, violin, timpani and percussion. As a student group, we tend to have people graduate, and we had a lot of people who graduated this year! Remember, we have a fun video on LincolnYouthSymphony.googlepages.com.

Last week, I failed to welcome the following new members: Jessica Dean & Kandra Patterson, Flute; Andy Bennett, Horn; Kyle Rutherford, Trumpet; Kelly Butler & Kayla Muhlestein, Violin; Mallory Wood, Viola; Paul Astorga, Emily Halling, Timothy Leake, Matthew Potter & Rebekah Terry, Cello.

This week, welcome to the following new members: Michelle Dean, Trumpet; Brittney Rutherford, Viola; and Daniel Olsen, Cello.

We are so glad to have you!

Future Rehearsals

News Flash: Our first rehearsal with potluck treats will be week-after-next October 11. This means if you want to make any plans, you can do so at the next rehearsal on October 4th.

There will be No Rehearsal on October 18th for UEA weekend. Spend time with your family, and Practice, Practice, Practice!

Please contact me with any questions: Julie Gardner, 435.723.8262, GJulieKay@gmail.com, or check out the calendar on the website here (please inform me of any technical difficulties).
