LYS: Thanks for a great year! (and please take the survey!)

Greetings!

It was a great concert, and a great year! Thanks to everyone for your hard work and dedication this year... This includes musicians, parents, audience members, graduating seniors (BOO HOO! I will miss you!), private teachers, section specialists, conductors, board members, dinner & silent auction helpers, chaperons, our party host, and everyone in between!

May you have a wonderful summer. I sure hope to see all of you next year, or around town if you are graduating!

Survey
If you could take 5 minutes and participate in my ten-question survey, I would be most grateful. I value your opinions and feedback. It helps me plan for next year. I'd offer a piece of candy for your participation, but since it's online, I can only offer {{{warm fuzzies}}}!

Thanks ahead of time. Here's the link:  http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WQYQ2GF

Last request
As announced in our concert, LYS is currently preparing to find a new conductor. If you have any suggestions or connections, please contact me. We will begin our search in the next week or so and will run an audition orchestra sometime this summer.

A big public THANK YOU to Robert Bott for his untiring efforts in our behalf, and all the fun we've had with him! We will miss you, Rob!

Have a great summer!

LYS: Party Info & Music Reminder

Greetings!

After this Saturday's 5:30 pm concert at BEMS, we are going to PARTY!

LYS and LYCO musicians are cordially invited to celebrate a great year!

The party will be after the concert, so will begin at approximately 7pm.
(You may want to bring a change of clothes to put on after the concert since it will be nice weather and we'll be able to go outside!)

Please arrange to be picked up by 9pm (a few parents are welcome to stay & help out, but we won't have room for all of them!).

We can't have a party without food, so here are your food assignments:

Last Name A-I: Cookies/Brownies/Sheetcake/Finger-Dessert/Be Creative!
Last Name J-P: Veggie/Fruit Tray, Simple Finger Foods, Hors d'Oeuvres
Last Name Q-Z: Chips and Chips, or Chips and Dip, or other snacky type food

The party is at the Wolford's, 564 E 600 N, Brigham City.

Here are directions from the Middle School:

Drive one block East from the Middle School to 600 E then turn left.  Head North on 600 E, turn left on 600 N.  The house is the first on the South side of the street.  It has a brown front door and a for sale sign in the yard. (Please be sure to thank the Wolfords for sharing their home with us this weekend!)

Music Reminder:
I will collect ALL music this Saturday - that is, all music that you've had checked out to you from LYS, even stuff we sight-read but didn't play for the concert. This is the LAST concert of the season! (Please don't turn in stuff that belongs to other groups you play with... then I don't have to wonder where it came from!)

See Ya this Saturday at BEMS. Remember to arrive early! Downbeat at 9:30am or earlier if we're all ready by then! :)

LYS: Concert & Dress Rehearsal Info

Greetings!

Here are some important things to remember:

Rehearsal will not begin until 9:30am this Saturday at Box Elder Middle School Auditorium. Expect to stay an extra half hour at the end as well. Please arrive by 9:15 to help set up so we are actually ready to play at 9:30am.

The Concert time has been adjusted: 5:30pm is our start time. Please arrive at 5pm. LYCO will play first, then LYS, then the combined piece (Pirates).

Concert Dress is not required for the morning rehearsal, but please dress appropriately for the concert. I've copied the dress specifications from the website and pasted it below:
  • Male: Black tux or equivalent suit, white dress shirt, black bow tie, black socks, black shoes.
  • Female: Black dress, formal trouser suit, or blouse & skirt, midriff covered, conservative neckline, skirts & dresses at least tea-length, slits no higher than knee, black stockings, black shoes, accessories & trim in black.
Thank you for all you've done this year! I am thinking about a party after the concert, but haven't decided yet. Your opinion, or volunteering a location other than my house, might help me decide (so I don't have to clean)... Please send feedback!

I'm excited for our concert this Saturday! It's going to be great!

Thanks again for your support and hard work. It has been a great year. :)

LYS: This Saturday & Our Concert

Greetings!

This Saturday will be a rather important rehearsal. It's our last regular rehearsal before dress rehearsals next week. LYCO will be joining us towards the end this week, so it's imperative that we Begin on Time to have time for all our other music before they join us!

I am aware of the ACT test this Saturday. If you have not told me you will be missing rehearsal, please let me know -- for whatever reason.

I am also aware that there are a limited number of students who have conflicts the day of the concert (April 21). If you have a conflict and have not contacted me, please do. The concert is still set at 5pm on April 21st.

I'm so pleased with how this season has gone! You are a fantastic group of youth -- I have truly enjoyed your company this year!

Just a quick announcement about the LBSS summer orchestra (string) camp: We have had to cancel the camp as our guest conductor will not be able to come. If you were planning to sign up and pay by the earlybird date (which is next week), you will want to scratch that from your calendars. :(

See ya this Saturday morning! I'll be there between 8:30 and 8:45 to set up. I love having help, too! :0

Warmly,

Julie Gardner
