LYS Saturday Report Supplement

Greetings!

This is Julie Gardner, Managing Director of Lincoln Youth Symphony.  For previous emails (or to read this one in another location), see the Lincoln Youth Symphony Blog, our Weekly Rehearsal Report, here.

Happy Note:
Our illustrious oboe player spoke with the best percussionist at Weber High, and SHE IS COMING this Saturday. We just need one or two more. How about it, folks? Let's make this work!

Flying J:
If you took Flying J packets, be sure to bring them back this Saturday, April 4th is the deadline. If you are interested in the great Flying J deals with this but your child didn't take a packet, please contact Naomi Miles at 435.723.7617.

There's still time to support this fundraiser. It's a great deal, and it will earn us money so we can purchase much-needed music! Thank you for your support.

Rehearsal schedule for Saturday, April 4th:

Normal with treats (promise of treats might get us more percussionists).

We will begin this week's rehearsal at 8:00 a.m. Call time is 7:45 a.m. Thank you for being on time!

Keep practicing the following:
  • Intermission - 10 Minutes
  • Lord of the Dance
  • Dvorak Scherzo
Do not worry about practicing the Grieg "Hall of the Mountain King" - we are choosing something else to combine with LYCO on. That one was a bit too ambitious for them! We'll play it again another time. I'll be collecting it at the next rehearsal.

Upcoming

LYS Saturday Report -- March 21st, 2009

Greetings!

This is Julie Gardner, Managing Director of Lincoln Youth Symphony.  For previous emails (or to read this one in another location), see the Lincoln Youth Symphony Blog, our Weekly Rehearsal Report, here.

Happy Note:
We only had two people take Flying J packets. If you are interested in the great Flying J deals with this but your child didn't take a packet, please contact Naomi Miles at 435.723.7617. Since there is no rehearsal this Saturday, and all materials must be returned on April 4th, this will be the only way to make this work.

Please support this fundraiser if you shop at Flying J. It's a great deal, and it will earn money so we can purchase much-needed music! Thank you in advance for your support.

Rehearsal schedule for Saturday, April 4th:

Normal with treats (thank you to KB and her mom who remembered last week).

We will begin our rehearsal at 8:30 a.m. Call time is 8:15 a.m.

Last Week

This is Julie Gardner, Managing Director of Lincoln Youth Symphony.  For previous emails (or to read this one in another location), see the Lincoln Youth Symphony Blog, our Weekly Rehearsal Report, here.

Happy Note:
All music, including the missing flute music, has been located -- thanks to the folks at Abravanel Hall who mailed it to us.

(Sarah, I once again never ended up with Justin's email address. Could you forward this to him?)

Today's Rehearsal:

Sight reading is good for us... Right?

Here is what we are feverishly praciticing for the final concert with Youtube links that were worth recommending:

Here is your assignment: Listen to this music. Get to know where your problem spots are, start practicing, and come prepared to ask questions and work problem spots. We have very little time to prepare, and we want to do a good job.

Rehearsal schedule for March 14th:

We will begin our rehearsal at 8:30 a.m. Call time is 8:15 a.m. Please be there on time so we can start on time. You have been doing a good job with this. Thank you for being on time! Remember, please set aside Friday, April 24th at 7:00 p.m., on your calendar. This is the date of our final concert. Then set aside Thursday, April 23rd from 4-6 p.m. This is our extra rehearsal.

Greetings!

This is Julie Gardner, Managing Director of Lincoln Youth Symphony.  For previous emails (or to read this one in another location), see the Lincoln Youth Symphony Blog, our Weekly Rehearsal Report, here.

Important Note:
Everyone please look through the music you brought home from Abravanel Hall tonight! We had a flute player who accidentally picked up someone's cello music, and the flute music must have been picked up by someone else. It included her solo & ensemble music. If anyone has this music, please contact me asap since the competition is tomorrow!

Congratulations everyone on a great rehearsal Saturday morning, and two wonderful concerts Saturday at BEHS and at Abravanel Hall on Monday. I'm so glad that everything worked out well. Thanks to Justin for playing his bassoon with us, and to our four moms who rode the bus and kept an eye on things for me. I certainly couldn't have done it without you!

Rehearsal schedule for this week:

We will begin our rehearsal at 8:30 a.m. this week. Call time is 8:15 a.m. Please be there on time so we can start on time. We will be checking in music from last week, and checking out some new music for our final concert. If you haven't already, please set aside Friday, April 24th at 7:00 p.m., on your calendar. This is the date of our final concert. Then set aside Thursday, April 23rd from 4-6 p.m. This is our extra rehearsal.
