Danse Macabre

Here is a link to a good recording of Danse Macabre, including information on the poem it's based on.

Happy Listening!

Abravanel Hall, Soapbox, Final Concert, Community Orch, and TREATS

Greetings!

It was a good rehearsal today, other than it felt like there were key people missing! Please be courteous about letting us know if you are not coming to rehearsal, K? My number is at the bottom of every email, or you can just hit reply! Thanks :)

If you were not here today, please be sure to hand in the Schubert and pick up new music next week.

Final Concert:
Our final concert is coming up. We just had the first of 7 only rehearsals (including the dress rehearsal) for it. It will be April 16, so please clear your calendars.

Danse Macabre ... by Saint-Saens (such fun!)
Waltz from Sleeping Beauty ... by Tchaikovsky
Variations on a Theme of Haydn ... by Brahms
Antar Symphony ... by Rimsky-Korsakov
Accolay violin concerto (strings only) ... by Accolay

Soapbox:
Also, I know Prom with those ubiquitous all-day activities is really fun, but the reality is that no date needs to last from sunup until after sundown. If at all possible, please arrange to come to rehearsal and do the group date thing after or do a sunrise breakfast before! If your date is a musician, just bring him/her along to rehearsal! (Yes, this has happened before and it was a blast!) Okay, my soapbox is put away now, I guess!

Abravanel Hall:
Thanks for a great performance on Monday! You were all awesome!
Thanks to Mr & Mrs Stocks, Mrs Felix, and Mrs Potter for giving up your day to come along and keep track of everyone!

Calendar:
I keep the LYS calendar up to date on the website. Here is the link, or just go to LincolnYouthSymphony.blogspot.com, look on the right sidebar, and click "Calendar - LYS".

One more note:
The Lake Bonneville Community Symphony is putting together a spring concert with the Box Elder Symphonic Choir. They have invited all interested LYS students to play with them. The performance will be at the Garland LDS Tabernacle on May 6th. The rehearsals are on Thursday evenings, 6:30 to 8:30, beginning March 31 at ACYI. The dress rehearsal is on May 5 in Garland. If you are interested in playing in this concert, please let me know and I will pass your info on to the proper person.

Oh, yet another thing:
We have decided to do POTLUCK TREATS at rehearsal next week, March 12. So bring a treat for break, and we'll share! Fun!

Have a great week, and I'll see you at rehearsal next week!
