Concerto Auditions
Some of you may be wondering how concerto soloists are chosen.
If you are interested, go to this link and read the rules, and scroll through past performers and what they played!

See you all tomorrow! We have contacted the two schools (Mountain Crest and Weber) that we know have concert conflicts with our May 17th concert. Have you checked your school's concert calendar? Are there any others? Now is the time!

Have a great night and see you tomorrow!

NUYS Announcements!

Greetings!

Concert date & time
We are noticing that there are possible conflicts for some students on May 17th. (There is nothing we can do about the date of the concert; it was essentially assigned to us as the "only available date" when our previous date was bumped for a school musical.)

We are willing to adjust the concert time to work with the people who have conflicts (for instance, one school has their concert that night!). Since we cannot change the date, we are looking at adjusting the time to accommodate our concert and theirs too. PLEASE look at your schedules NOW. This is the time to take care of these issues; they cannot be remedied later! We need to be proactive!

Tomorrow's rehearsal schedule:
8:00 am - Doors unlock; come help set up
8:20 am - Prepare for sectionals
8:30 am - Sectionals as follows:
Strings in the gym
Woodwinds and Brass where they normally go
Percussion on the stage in the Kiva
9:30 am - Full orchestra in the following order:
Wagner - Die Meistersinger
Rimsky-Korsakov - Capriccio Espagnol
Wieniawski - Concerto
Copland - Fanfare for the Common Man (ww and strings excused 15-20 minutes early)
11:00 am - Clean up
11:30 am - Doors lock

Heads up: The rehearsal on April 3 will be early! It will begin at 8 am and end at 10.

Don't forget about the Attendance Form, and don't come if you are sick (with anything) or quarantined.

See you all tomorrow!!!!

Mid Week Announcements - NUYCO

Hello families!

We have two pieces right now - a Brahms and a Bach. The Beethoven piece (the third B) will be handed out in two weeks, probably.

Did you know NUYCO has a Youtube playlist? Mr. West updates it with helpful videos. He has recently added a complete recording of our Brahms piece. Keep an eye out for more selections!

Remember our Private Teachers List (found here, under Our Music Teacher Spreadsheet List)! It is very helpful for your NUYCO member to have a private teacher. This list covers a large area from Bear Lake to Tremonton to Provo and everywhere in between. Check it out and show our local teachers some love!

We don't take a spring break since we have members in so many different schools. We did take March 6 off, so hopefully you were able to do something fun! There are no scheduled breaks until after our concert on May 17.

We will have an EARLY REHEARSAL on April 3, most likely 8:15 - 9:45 AM. Stay tuned for any changes about that. Thanks for your support and dedication!

 See you on Saturday!

NUYS Announcements!

Greetings!

Looking forward to getting together again this Saturday? Great! Let's do it. (Well, I'll be out of town snuggling my new grandson, so you'll have to let me know how it goes!)

We will be doing a sightreading run through of the music, so there will not be sectionals this week.  The Fanfare for the Common Man readthrough will be last.

For your youtube pleasure, here are the links again to the videos with scores for the music. Mr Dunn highly highly recommends (begs) for you to watch these before Saturday!

Here is Saturday's Schedule:
8 am Doors open - Come help Josie put folders on stands!
8:30 Full Orchestra rehearsal, with break, and with Fanfare to be last
(Sorry, brass! Hopefully this doesn't kill you off!)
11:00 Clean Up
11:30 Doors Lock

Thanks, everyone, and I'll see you next week!

Checking in! - NUYS

Greetings!

We are geared up and ready to go for next week! I hope you have had a lovely and well-deserved day off! We worked hard for those 7 weeks to put together our concert, and I felt great about our performance!

Next week we will jump in and start preparing for our final concert (Monday, May 17th, Box Elder High School).

I thought it might help you to know what is on the program.
Violin Concerto No 2, first movement, by Wieniawski, (1st movement is 11:30) featuring Natalie Nef on Violin

The links to these videos are wonderful because someone with nothing better to do has put scores to the music! Learn which line is yours and follow along. It's pretty cool. And the more we hear this music in the next week, the better prepared we all will be to get started on the music next week.

For those of you who notice these kinds of things, all the music we have for you to play is in the right key for your instrument, even though the scores are in strange keys.

Let me know if you have any questions!

:)
