NUYS Announcement

This Saturday, April 1, rehearsal will begin at 8 am sharp with a 30 minute sectional. Rehearsal will end by 10 am. This is on the original schedule for the year. (Siblings in NUYCO? Tell them 8:30 to 10:00). Use the attendance form if you are not coming so we can conserve our chair-set-up energy!

Only for those involved, the final Messiah rehearsal before going to Montpelier will be this Saturday from 10 to 12. Please do your best to be there, and let us know if you won't be there by using the attendance form.

Thanks!

Julie

NUYS Tour Electronic Payment Information

Greetings! I'm just adding a note at the top of this: If you did not receive a tour packet, you need to contact Educational Tours and get one. That's how you make your payment. I've had several people ask me, so I won't be surprised if they missed a few more. -Julie

Dear Tour Participants

There has been a request for an "electronic payment plan" versus sending a check via mail.  Below are the instructions.  Educational Tours can help with any clarification or additional questions regarding payments.

I hope this information is helpful.

Just a reminder:  There was a $100 deposit due March 1st.  This payment is way past due...please catch up if you have not made this payment.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you

Debra Francis

Silent Auction - Last Call

Greetings!

You were all stupendous on Monday! Thanks for being awesome (and for following the conductor). I was so proud of "my orchestra!"

I have been working on the silent auction items that have been donated thus far.

Thank you for your work and especially your generosity. To be honest, it wouldn't hurt to have a few more donations, not just for baskets, but as stand-alone auction items.

Below is a small-font chart of all the basket items I've received (which is also a separate sheet on the spreadsheet). Please look it over and let me know if I put your item in the wrong column, or if you need a reminder of what theme your section got in the drawing.

I'm willing to spend Saturday afternoon putting all this together, if you're willing to make the donations! Thanks, dear people!

(I love it that the chocolate list is the longest. If you come across something that would work in a category that belongs to another section, feel free to throw it in!)

:) See you at rehearsal this Saturday... Aren't you excited for some new music?

Fudge Fundraiser Reminder

From: Wendy Finley <wkfinley2973@gmail.com>

Hello Fellow Fudge Salespeople!

I just wanted to remind everyone that your fudge orders and money are due this Saturday, March 18th at rehearsal.  Please bring your "Pre-Sell Order Form" filled out with the money in a sealed envelope with your name in big bold letters on the front.  I want to make sure the money gets allocated to the right musician. ðŸ˜‡

The fudge will be available for pick up at rehearsal on April 1st.  Please try and be available to pick up your orders on that day.  If you aren't able to pick it up that day, please let me know ASAP so we can work something else out.

Thank you and see you all Saturday (Look for the Blue Moose Sweet Shoppe sign)!

Quick Announcements

Hi everyone!

Happy Announcement:
I'm having a great time in Pittsburgh, and my daughter Jana's recital was amazing last night. I don't know how long the video will stay up, but the live stream video is still there, for when (not if) you want to watch it, or at least put it on in the background.
(Huge hint: Flutists should watch this! and wait until you see the accompanist... He's from Armenia, like Arutunian!)

Okay, now for the important stuff:

Tomorrow, Josie is me. Be super nice and helpful, please, just as you always are! (Attendance form is still the best way to let us know if you'll be late, leave early, or be absent.)

No sectionals tomorrow. Full orchestra for the whole time, 8:30 to 11:00.

Josie will be asking information from the cello players who are riding the bus for their instrument size and for their case type (hard or soft). So, be super helpful with that, please.

Silent Auction and Gala:

Bring ticket money.

Bring Silent Auction items. :)

Need more info? The website has all the past posts about this.

Abravanel Hall stuff:

All seats on the bus are full (going down) plus there will be additional transportation - two seats in my car and 6 seats in Mrs Rockwood's car (she will meet the bus at Farr West). We also have several students getting on at Venture High, which will be a quick stop since it's so close to the freeway. Our bus chaperones are Valerie Neslen and Jenn Christensen, and they will have a list of cell numbers for those riding the bus. If you have issues Monday, or you aren't making it to where you need to be at the right time, call me! I won't be following the bus, but I'll be in touch will all the right people.

On the way back, the bus is pretty full, but there will not be a need for additional transport (other than for the cellos and basses, already arranged for both directions), which is good, because I have to stay for a meeting.

Lunch! You are all in charge of your own lunch. Water ONLY -- that's the only drink allowed! You may eat (carefully) in the bus, or (carefully) in the lobby of Abravanel Hall before the 1 pm start time.

Re-read the Abravanel Hall info sheet, please.

Please do let me know if you have any questions. If you have a question, it's likely others are asking the same thing.

It may seem that I'm always out of town, but this is only the third rehearsal I've missed in about 10 years. :)

Blessings,

Julie :)

Gala Tickets: Important Announcement

This announcement is from Josie Anderson. She will be at rehearsal the whole time this Saturday as she will be filling in for me!

Thanks for your support of the Gala!

Julie
Gala Celebration
Brigham City Community Center
March 18, 2017
6:00 p.m.

Hello, parents and members of the Northern Utah Youth Symphony and Chamber Orchestra!

As you know, the Gala Celebration is quickly approaching! The event will be on March 18, 2017, at the Brigham City Community Center, located at 24 N 300 W, Brigham City, UT 84302.  Iron Gate Catering will once again be providing their delicious Tuscan Chicken.

The members of the symphony and orchestra are responsible for selling the gala tickets to those who might be interested - family, friends, teachers, and others with whom they associate. There are a maximum of 200 tickets available, and over one hundred tickets have yet to be sold. Tickets are $20 per plate. I accept cash or checks made out to Lake Bonneville Symphonic Society.

Because I need to tell Iron Gate Catering the number of people who will be attending the gala, the last day that I will accept ticket sales is this Saturday, March 11, 2017. I will be at Promontory School of Expeditionary Learning from 8:30-11:30 a.m. to help facilitate the ticket sales.

The Lake Bonneville Symphonic Society hopes you will support the Gala and help fund the Symphony, Chamber Orchestra, and Community Symphony programs.

Please contact me if you need a different arrangement for purchasing tickets.  I would love to help you!

NUYS Announcements

Please Read... There might be a quiz... with prizes!

Last Week's Concert:
Congrats on a great concert! Thanks especially to all who stepped up and volunteered in my absence, specifically the Francis, Aedo, Suiter, Neslen and Hankins families, but really those are just the ones with specific assignments, so thanks to everyone!

Upcoming Schedule:
Rehearsal time is back to "normal" this week ~ 8:30 to 11:00 am. Messiah Rehearsal immediately following until noon. The online calendar is up to date. I will not be at our March 11 rehearsal.

Attendance form:
Please be sure to fill out the attendance form if you are going to be late, leave early, or be absent. It helps us in setting up to keep the gaps to a minimum. If you know you will be missing any time in the future, you can fill it out now, weeks early. The signature at the bottom of every email includes a link to this form.

Big Announcement:
We have the Gershwin! We are performing Rhapsody in Blue with Hubert Kim in April.  I was totally surprised to see the music so early! It seems that the rental company it comes from operates differently from the one that sent previous rentals. This means we can start working earlier! Come ready to work this Saturday on new music as well as on parts of the Tchaikovsky.

Abravanel Hall:
At Abravanel Hall we will be performing Finlandia and Tchaikovsky.

Very Important: Permission slips are due this Saturday. Contribute to the enjoyment of my March 8-12 trip to Pittsburgh for my daughter's recital by following through with this easy task.

Please check the appropriate boxes at the bottom of the permission slip; if you've already signed it, you're not quite done! Please note whether your musician will be riding the bus, and which stop s/he will meet the bus. If you are a Venture Student, you may add "Venture High" as a stop on the form because it's so close to the freeway. You may also meet the bus at one stop on the way down and ride back to a different stop on the way home.

Gala Celebration, March 18, 2017, 6 pm:
The Gala Ticket sales continue. Please participate in this event. It's super fun and for a GREAT cause. :)

Silent Auction Basket Donation Themes:
The week before the concert, we drew little papers with themes for each section of the orchestra to donate items for silent auction baskets for the Gala Celebration.

We are also looking for additional donations from local businesses! The Utah Jazz donated two autographed photos just because I asked! We received them this week. But two photos of jumping Jazz players does not a silent auction make.

I will have a box at rehearsal this week, and make sure there is box there in my absence next week, to collect items for the baskets.

Here are the themes:
Violin I ~ Chocolate Lovers
Violin II ~ Summer Fun
Viola & Bass ~ Camping
Cello ~ Pamper Me (Salon)
Woodwinds ~ Game Night
Brass & Percussion ~ Kitchen
NUYCO Group 1 ~ Disney
NUYCO Group 2 ~ Sports

Silent Auction Collaboration Link ~ Here I have included a link to the Silent Auction Collaboration. It's a fully editable spreadsheet where you can share who you have talked to - or are planning to talk to - for silent auction donations. You should at least click the link and see where I've applied so far. :)

Here is a letter you can use to beg for donations. :) It includes an option to request a donation for an "auxiliary auction" to take place at our April 25 season finale concert (in case we have passed someone's deadline for donations by March 18).
