This week - NUYCO

Hi families!

Solo Auditions:  Any NUYCO member can audition for a solo in Battalia, one of our concert pieces! There are two options for solos, both attached below.

2nd mvt Battalia has all of the solos for that movement (3 violin solos, 2 viola, 2 cello, and 1 bass). You just pick the solo you would like to play! For example, there are three violin solos. Pick the one that you like, or audition for all three.

4th mvt Battalia is a violin and bass solo. Sorry, violas and cellos, you missed out. :)

If you would like to audition for a solo, text or email me a video by Thursday (tomorrow) evening! If you upload it to Youtube or Google Drive, you will need to change the sharing settings so that anyone can view.

NUYCO Tour: We are contemplating going on a "tour" to Pocatello in May! Please fill out this short form letting us know what you think. Here's the form! This is for parents/guardians and specialists only. Whether you want your child to attend or not, I need you to fill this out. We need to be sure we have a balanced group. Thank you!

Practice Spots: In rehearsal on Saturday, Maestro is going to focus on the Hebrides and Battalia movements 1, 3, and 5. Practice those specifically!

See you on Saturday, 9:30 AM!

Rehearsal this Saturday

Hello NUYS!!

You all were wonderful last Saturday!!!!  I got chills standing backstage during the Variations on a Shaker Melody, and I heard so many positive comments from our audience.  Job well done!

Time to start preparing for our final concert which has been scheduled for April 25th, @ 7:00 pm (sound check at 5:00), at Box Elder High School. This is a perfect time to invite friends to come play with us.  Just give me a heads up!

Here is our rehearsal schedule for this Saturday (new music time, so you don't want to miss it!):
8:00: Doors Unlock
8:30 - 11:00: Sight-reading/Introduction to the following pieces.
- Beethoven Violin Concerto, 1st Mvt. - Featuring our Chamber Conductor, Mr. Nathan West. Trombone and Tuba are excused
- Vaughan Williams Oboe Concerto, 1st Mvt- with concerto winner, Alexis Jensen (we don't have this one yet, but please listen to it.  This is a strings only piece.)

Please take some time before our rehearsal to listen to these pieces.  It will greatly help with our sight-reading experience if you have an idea as to what the pieces sound like!

 See you on Saturday!

Solo Auditions: We have solos in our new concert pieces! The members can audition if interested in being offered a solo. Anyone interested already has the music. The auditions will be held before rehearsal. Sign up here!

NUYCO Tour: We are contemplating going on a "tour" to Pocatello in May! Please fill out this short form letting us know what you think. Here's the form! This is for parents/guardians and specialists only.

Utah Symphony: The Utah Symphony is performing Carnival of the Animals! Maestro wanted to let you know about this because NUYCO may be performing Carnival of the Animals next year. It would be fun to hear the USO do it, too! Attached is a screenshot with more information.

I think that's everything. :) See you on Saturday! Remember to fill out the Attendance Form if you will be absent!

If you wear a mask on stage, please make sure it is dark/black.

We need help setting up before the concert and cleaning up after the concert. It goes faster with more hands! Please sign up HERE or just send me a text or email. :)

I scream, you scream, we all scream for.... donuts!

Hello everyone!

One of our wonderful oboists is helping raise money to help us cover rental cost for her concerto which we  will be playing at our next concert.  You might not be aware, but renting music can get very pricey!   We are so grateful for Alexis and her family's willingness to help with the cost by hosting this fundraiser.  If you are a donut lover, or just enjoy a delicious sweet treat, please consider supporting her!

For any questions contact Jennifer Jensen (info is below).
