The spot checks we assigned a couple weeks ago were canceled!  I'm sure all who missed rehearsal will be sad not to have to make them up. We have chosen to expect you to learn your music without being scared into it.

Thank you for practicing at home!  The Mozart is sounding much better!

Don't forget to invite your friends to play with us. Remember, we have a fun video on LincolnYouthSymphony.googlepages.com.

This week, we passed out the narration for Little Bop Riding Hood. If you did not receive it, please see Julie this Saturday.

Future Rehearsals

Regular rehearsal next Saturday, November 1, 8:30 to 11:00 am. I know we had a rocky start with extra auditions for a few weeks, but now is the time to step up your promptness and be perfectly on time!  Let's start on time. For those of you who are new, we used to start at 8:00 am, but we are happy to start at 8:30 if we truly start then!

Our first concert is coming up quickly. Be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, November 22nd, 2008, 7:00 pm, BEHS Auditorium.

Please contact me with any questions: Julie Gardner, 435.723.8262, GJulieKay@gmail.com, or check out the calendar on the website here (please inform me of any technical difficulties).

This week, we had potluck treats. The food was great!  We had homemade cupcakes with lovely decorations, zucchini bread, honeydew melon, oreos, fruit rollups, and other fun things. Thanks to everyone for helping out!

We also assigned spot checks to encourage people to practice. It is imperative that you practice since we don't have rehearsal next week, and after that we have only 5 rehearsals before the concert. We will video tape each person playing the assigned passage in the music the next time we meet, October 25th.

Thank you for practicing at home!  Focus on notes and rhythms, and don't just practice the spot we assigned!
Here are the assigned passages for the spot checks. There may be a seating change resulting from these spot checks:
    • For everyone except Clarinets and Trumpets: Prepare the Mozart, 1st movement, from rehearsal 12 until the end. You will be asked to play four to eight measures from that section.
    • For Trumpets: Prepare Sleigh Ride from the pickup to C all the way to D.
    • For Clarinets: Prepare the St Lawrence Overture from F to H

Don't forget to invite your friends. Remember, we have a fun video on LincolnYouthSymphony.googlepages.com.

This week, welcome to Jeremy Larsen, Clarinet.  We are so glad to have you!  (And thank you for playing the part of the narrator for today in Little Bop Riding Hood!)

Future Rehearsals

Remember, there will be No Rehearsal on October 18th (that's next Saturday) for UEA weekend. Spend time with your family, and Practice, Practice, Practice!

Our first concert is coming up quickly. Be sure to mark your calendar for Saturday, November 22nd, 2008, 7:00 pm, BEHS Auditorium.
