Greetings!
Concert Registration and Volunteers!Today is the day before our final rehearsal, and today is also three days before the final concert of our miracle year!I have thought of some things that didn't happen this year, like our retreat, recital night, Abravanel Hall, and the Side-by-Side concert with the Utah Symphony....But by and large, we have done so much! Three concerts, a T-Shirt Party, good connections with each other, wonderful music, so much opportunity for musical growth! We have had superb section specialists, an amazing lineup of soloists, and so much more! Totally worth the time and effort!
Audience registration for the concert is going well. So far we have 360 people registered, so keep inviting people! I will not be counting "available seats" because I can tell we have plenty. If your spectators request or have requested more than 10, I have automatically added those to their group. No confirmation needed. Just come. They will be choosing their own seats, as well, just as we've done in the past.
As far as volunteers go, we definitely need more check-in people and ushers. I know with continued revisions of rules it seems silly, but we promised to do it. Perhaps some youth symphony musicians can help with it since you don't play at the beginning of the concert, and you will likely be available during the check-in and usher times. Feel free to sign up if you feel comfortable doing it.
Tomorrow!
Rehearsal will look a little different tomorrow. We will still begin with sectionals at 8:30 for 45 minutes, but Mr Dunn will work with the strings the whole time.At 9:15 when we gather for our full rehearsal, we will run the concert straight through. Here is concert order:Fanfare for the Common ManDie MeistersingerWieniawski ConcertoCapriccio EspagnoleThen, after a break, we will reconvene and work on spots... Whatever Mr Dunn feels will be the best use of our remaining time.As usual, doors automatically unlock at 8 am, and lock again at 11:30.
Monday!
We will be setting up as soon as school lets out, and will be in full swing by 3 pm.We will NOT be using the band room for cases. Instead, we will use the Drama room, which connects to backstage on stage left. Just come in the front door to Box Elder High School and go through the cafeteria. The drama room double doors are on the other side of the cafeteria. We aim to begin rehearsal at 3:30. I am aware some of you will have to check out of school a little early. We only have 45 minutes on stage, and most of it will be for stage management, knowing where to be and when, and doing some sound checks, especially with the concerto and the harp/solo spots. We will NOT require concert dress for the rehearsal; however, after the performance, you will be asked to come down the steps at the front of the stage for photos! If anyone has a quality DSLR that could give us a good clear photo - and the Chamber Orch as well, and would be willing to take photos and share them, please let me know!
Music!
All folders will be collected at the end of the concert.PLEASE remove all personal papers and other music from your folder. If you are graduating, you can even take the stack of cards from over the years. I will still know it's your folder. If you are continuing next year, you will have the same folder next year. Please remove the special keepsake programs from the previous concerts and keep them! There are no extras, so those programs are one-of-a-kind, just for you to remember this weird year.

PS There is an article in the Box Elder News Journal announcing our concert. The paper is available at check stands at local grocery stores until the next Weds issue is released. It's opposite the article about my son Isaac's adventures on Forged in Fire. Yes. I had to say that!
