The Northern Utah Youth Symphony and Chamber Orchestra will present their first concerto of the 2019-20 Season: Spooky Fantasia Festival: Halloween, Enchanted Journeys, and Christmas. The concert is Saturday, November 16, 2019, at 3:00 pm, at the historic Ogden High School Auditorium, 2828 Harrison Blvd. Admission is free.
The Northern Utah Youth Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Maestro Nathan West, will open the concert with a Halloween-themed program featuring The Curse of the Rosin-Eating Zombies, music from The Addams Family, Deborah Baker Monday's Dies Irae Fantasia, as well as Creepy Classics, featuring themes from Danse Macabre and Night on Bald Mountain.
The Northern Utah Youth Symphony, conducted by Maestro Conrad Dunn, will then take the stage. Their program includes Mendelssohn's Overture to A Midsummer Night's Dream and a suite from the movie The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. Ashley Montgomery, a senior at Ogden High School, will be their featured performer, with a Clarinet Concerto by Karl Stamitz. Their final number will introduce the Christmas spirit. Tintinabulations is a medley of variations on Jingle Bells like you've never heard it before.

Ashley Montgomery has been playing clarinet for 6 years and currently studies under Cindy Child. This will be her fourth year playing with NUYS. She is a senior at Ogden High School where she serves as section leader in the OHS Marching Band as well as being the principal clarinetist in the Wind Ensemble. She has received superior ratings at both state and region solo and ensemble.Ashley has performed with the Utah Symphony in the All-Star Youth Pro Am concert. She was part of the Golden Spike 150 Year Celebration Band. This last summer Ashley had the opportunity to perform in Europe with the Utah Ambassadors of Music.
Ashley enjoys the sciences and plans to continue playing clarinet in college while majoring in geology.
Ashley would like to thank the many music teachers and mentors who have inspired and pushed her to become a better musician throughout the years.
