Press Release: November 22, 2014, Concert

The Northern Utah Youth Symphony and Chamber Orchestra (formerly Lincoln) will present their first concert of the season as a matinee,November 22, 2014, 3.00 pm, at Bear River High School Auditorium, 1450 South Main, Garland, Utah. Admission is free thanks to the sponsorship of Classical Strings.

The Northern Utah Youth Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Amanda Kippen, will open the concert with selections including Wood Splitter Fanfare, Dies Irae: Fantasia, Brandenburg Concerto No. 5, and to put us in the holiday mood, Variant on an Old English Carol.

The Northern Utah Youth Symphony, conducted by Conrad Dunn, will follow with Sibelius' timeless Finlandia, a suite from Video Games Live, and Jeffrey Bishop's Aethelinda. Each concert this year will also feature a student soloist chosen as a winner of the NUYS annual concerto auditions. Krystell Taylor, violin, will be performing the stunning first movement of Lalo's Symphonie Espagnole with the orchestra.

Krystell Taylor is a senior at Fremont High School in Plain City, Utah.  She is the daughter of Joel and Amber Taylor.  She has studied violin for 15 years with Diane Austin and Elizabeth Wallace.   She is currently serving as concert mistress of the Northern Utah Youth Symphony. In 2011, Miss Taylor was selected to perform solo with the Lincoln Youth Symphony. Krystell had the opportunity during the summer of 2014 to play with the Rocky Mountain Camerata while touring Europe. She is also currently playing with the Young Artists Chamber Players under the direction of Jack Ashton. Krystell enjoys being a member of the Hot Apple Pie Fiddlers, as well as a member of a double quartet, Aspen Strings.  She has received superior ratings at ASTA festivals for the past 10 years, and has received superior ratings at Regional and State Solo and Ensembles for the past 3 years.  She loves being involved with music and participates in various school orchestras and choirs, honor orchestras, All-State Orchestras, and teaches private lessons.  Krystell has a passion for playing her violin and making music, whether it is fiddle, chamber, symphony or performing solo.
