LYS - Important Information for Sat, Dec 5, and Mon, Dec 7

First of all, congratulations on the wonderful concert on Nov 21. You all played so well, and the evening came off as a great success. Thank you for all your time and effort, and for all your great supportive parents!

Now, back to business!

Rehearsal Saturday December 5

We will not be collecting music until the December 12th rehearsal so we can do it all at once.

The schedule for this Saturday will be as follows. It is subject to change, according to how things go during rehearsal:

• 8:20am Strings arrive and set up
• 8:30am Strings Only for the first half hour
• We will be handing out Vivaldi a minor concerto and Bach a minor concerto (3rd movement of each)
• 9:15am Woodwinds/Brass arrive
• Haydn (from the last concert) 1st movement
• Toccata
• 10:00am Percussion arrives
• Winter Wonderland
• Bach Christmas
• Sleigh Ride
• 11:00am End of Rehearsal

Concert on Monday December 7

There should be a write-up on the concert in the GO! section of the Standard Examiner this weekend. Check it out!

Tickets: I went to the Dee Events Center and visited with the Ticket Office manager today. She went over my list with me and we made sure we have everyone in LYS on the list of performers. Each person on the list gets two tickets. I considered picking up your tickets for you, but decided against it. The performance is reserved seating and if you were to purchase additional tickets you would have ended up with your "free" seats in one place and your additional seats in another place.

• Each performer on the list gets two tickets for two parents, grandparents, or other spectators (they consider these to be "free" tickets since the performer fee you paid went to the organizers). Performers do not need tickets.
• If you are only getting your two "free" tickets, I encourage you to phone the WSU Dee Events Center Ticket Office at 801-626-8500 to request your reserved tickets. If you call and only request these two "free" tickets, there is no additional fee.
• If you decide to get additional tickets at $7.00 each and you order them over the phone, you will be charged a transaction fee of $6.00 no matter how many tickets you purchase (flat fee).
• Alternatively, if you don't want to be charged extra but you want good tickets before they run out, you can stop in at the ticket office on the NE side of the Dee Events Center M-F from 10am to 6pm. (So tomorrow or Monday). They can issue you your two free tickets, or they can set up your additional $7 tickets and your free tickets in the same area in the auditorium without charging the extra $6 for the telephone order. (Boy, I hope that made sense)
• I may be able to pick up tickets on Monday for people who have called in and ordered them (free or otherwise). The advantage of doing this might be that you don't have to wait in line at the Browning Center box office. The box office will open at 4pm - earlier than we originally expected!
• Alternatively, if you are coming to the tech rehearsal (arrive at 5:15, our time on stage is 5:30 to 6:30 with appx 15-20 minutes of playing time), then you could theoretically drop off your son/daughter at the Browning Center and go get tickets at the Dee Events Center ticket office, thus avoiding the lines later at the Browning Center.
• Another Note: If you do not come to the tech rehearsal (we'd really like as many there as possible), please be at the auditorium by 6:30pm.
• I sincerely hope that made sense. If you read it a couple times and still can't figure it out, please contact me - there may be others with similar questions.

Location: The concert is in the Austad Auditorium in the Browning Center for the Performing Arts. This is on the Weber State University Campus.

You are all coming from slightly different places, I am going to tell you how to find your way from Harrison. It's up to you how you get to Harrison! Here are a few alternatives:

• Take the 31st Street exit on the freeway and go east. Turn right on Wall after the railroad overpass. Turn left on 36th. Follow 36th until you find yourself at the top of the hill & turn right on Harrison...
• Take 89 South through Willard, North Ogden, Harrisville, etc, Go left on 12th, Go right on Harrison & up the hill. Follow it until you reach WSU the light at 3850 S.

Here's what to do from Harrison:

• Turn East on 3850 South (also called University Circle) and get in the right lane.
• At the roundabout (yes, like in England), turn right.
• You will quickly pass a tiny brick building on your left (information booth).
• Take your first left just past the brick building and go past the pond (see any geese?).
• Follow the road past the parking area with the gates (BTW: park in any lot after 5:00pm - it's free) and up the circle towards the building at the other end. This circle in front of the Browning Center is a great place to drop off your son/daughter for the tech rehearsal (don't park here though... They'll come after your car!).
• If you are facing the building and you look to the left of the revolving doors there is another more humble looking door, kind of hidden, sunk into the front of the building, and up a step. If you go through this door and walk through the little lobby (notice the bathrooms on your right) then straight down the hall you will be headed for the band room and the back stage entrance to the Austad Auditorium. This is where you will find me.
• For the concert, your audience members should go through the revolving doors. The box office is on the left as you enter, and the auditorium is up some really cool curved stairs! If you've never been in the Austad Auditorium before, you will be pleasantly surprised. It is very nice!
