Spend an evening with the arts... Come to our Lincoln Youth Symphony Concert!
The Lincoln Youth Symphony in Brigham City will be presenting their End-of-Winter Concert March 1, 2008, 7:00 p.m., in the Box Elder High School Auditorium at 400 S & 600 W. The concert will feature two outstanding young musicians, winners of the Lincoln Youth Symphony's January 2008 concerto competition. Candace Child will be playing Marcello's Oboe Concerto in d minor, and Jana Gardner will be playing Mozart's Flute Concerto in D Major.
The concert will also include Hungarian Dance No.1 by Brahms, the Pizzicato Caprice from Tchaikovsky's Fourth Symphony, and the Bacchanale from "Samson & Delilah" by Saint-Saens.
Admission defrays the cost of the hall: $2 ages 12 and up, and $1 for children and seniors.
Candace Child of North Ogden started playing the oboe in Michigan when she was nine, and has studied the oboe privately for five years. She recently played principal oboe in the 2008 Utah All-State Orchestra. Candace also enjoys choir and musical theatre and has performed lead roles in productions of HMS Pinafore, Annie, and Cactus Pass. She is a sophomore at Weber High School.
Jana Gardner of Perry has studied flute for six years. Most recently, she qualified for Salute To Youth Auditions by placing 2nd at the 2007 State Fair Music Competition. Jana studies flute with Jane Wadsworth of Salt Lake City. In 2007, she had a lead role in "A Midsummer Night's Dream." Jana is a home schooled sophomore; she also attends Liberty Tree Academy in Ogden.
The Lincoln Youth Symphony is conducted by John Findlay and James Arbizu.

The Lincoln Youth Symphony will also be taking their Tchaikovsky, Brahms, and Saint-Saens program on the road, playing at the Youth Symphony Festival at Abravanel Hall in Salt Lake City on March 10.
