The Lincoln Youth Symphony and Chamber Orchestra will be presenting their first concert of the season with special guest artists The Mount Olympus Waters Honors String Quartet. The concert will be Saturday, November 17, 2012, at 5:00pm, Box Elder Middle School Auditorium, 18 South 500 East, Brigham City. Admission $3 Adults, $2 Students/Seniors, $12 Family (under-one-roof).
Guest artists Mount Olympus String Quartet, an honors quartet from the University of Utah graduate school, will open the concert with a Dvorak string quartet.
The Lincoln Youth Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Amanda Kippen, will follow with Grieg's "Anitra's Dance", Corelli's "Christmas Concerto", Rimsky-Korsakov's "Dance of the Tumblers", and a fun arrangement combining "Carol of the Bells" and "Greensleeves". LYCO is an audition-only string training orchestra for Lincoln Youth Symphony.
The Lincoln Youth Symphony, with new conductor Samuel Runolfson, will conclude the concert with two movements from Beethoven's "7th Symphony", Brahms' "Hungarian Dance No. 5", an arrangement of Hatikvah (the Israeli national anthem), and a selection of Christmas Carols. LYS is an audition-only full orchestra looking forward to attending the Youth Symphony Festival at Abravanel Hall in February 2013.
These orchestras are projects of the Lake Bonneville Symphonic Society, with funding from the George S & Dolores Dore Eccles Foundation, the Utah Arts Council, and the Annual Gala Fundraiser Dinner. LBSS is especially grateful for the support of families, friends, and local businesses in the Brigham City, Tremonton, Logan, and Ogden areas.
