We have a CONDUCTOR! We are so excited to have Robert Bott as the new Lincoln Youth Symphony conductor.
He will most likely be conducting our Peach Days Concert. We will know in the next couple days. Please plan to play in it. He will be conducting the rehearsals on Tuesdays from 6:30 to 8:30pm: August 17th (yes, that's next week), 24th, 31st, and Sept 7th. There may be a couple sectionals on Thursdays during those weeks. The concert is Sept 11th at 1:30 pm. ANYONE is invited to play in this concert - it is a non-audition fun outdoor pops concert. If you'd like to get to know our new conductor for longer than a half hour, this is a great opportunity!

After a competitive conductor search, the Lincoln Youth Symphony (Brigham City) is pleased to announce Robert Bott as their new conductor. Mr. Bott will add a new dimension to the youth symphony with his expertise and love of music. The orchestra is destined to grow under his able tutelage.
High school age musicians who play orchestral instruments including violin, viola, cello, string bass, flute, piccolo, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba and percussion/timpani are invited to audition for this growing and dynamic full symphony orchestra. The open auditions will be September 18th from 8:30 to 11:00 am. Please contact LincolnYouthSymphony@gmail.com for an appointment. Walk-in auditions will be accepted as time allows. Audition requirements are posted on LincolnYouthSymphony.blogspot.com. Students not yet ready for Lincoln Youth Symphony may want to audition for the Lincoln Youth Chamber Orchestra conducted by Charles Thompson.
Any student or adult musicians interested in meeting and working with Mr. Bott before coming to auditions are invited to play in the no-audition Peach Days orchestra which will perform on September 11th on the Main Street Stage in Brigham City. Robert Bott, in addition to being the newly appointed Music Director/Conductor for the Lincoln Youth Symphony, currently serves as Co-Music Director of the Celebration Chamber Orchestra. Robert has guest conducted with the Salt Lake Symphony, the Utah Composer's Forum, the Summer Choral Institute, and has participated in conducting workshops around the country. He has also been privileged to work with living composers and to conduct premieres of several contemporary works, including his own compositions. His conducting teachers include Robert Baldwin, David Cho, Brady Allred, Kenneth Kiesler, Andrew George, and David Schiff.
A native of Salt Lake City, Robert holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Utah in Music Composition, and a Master's degree in Instrumental Conducting. His interests in music are extremely varied; besides conducting and composition, Robert has studied the saxophone, clarinet, and voice. As a performer he has had the privilege of playing in numerous instrumental ensembles, singing in the Salt Lake Tabernacle, and touring England and France with the University of Utah Singers, winners of the European Grand Prix International Choir Competition in 2006. Robert and his wife live in Layton, Utah, and in their spare time enjoy literature, sports, video games, and nature.
The Lincoln Youth Symphony is a project of the Lake Bonneville Symphonic Society, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing student and adult musicians with a superior musical experience and supporting existing school programs by giving their students musical leadership skills. The Lincoln Youth Symphony participates in the annual Youth Symphony Festival at Abravanel Hall, and under the direction of Robert Bott will be participating in their first-ever weekend retreat this fall.
